BRIGHTON, Mich. – The Alma College football program got big-time performances from a pair of its veteran leaders to win its Homecoming / MIAA Opener vs. Adrian on Saturday as Jett King and Jacob Kluk earned the distinction of Conference Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively.
 
King, a senior linebacker from Grand Rapids, Michigan, was a man amongst boys against the Bulldogs, leading all tacklers with a season-high 13 while picking off his seventh career pass and returning it 52 yards to the house for his first collegiate score. Additionally, he recovered the game-sealing fumble on a strip sack by Blake Esselink to secure the victory on the final play.
 
The Caledonia High School alum sits tenth in the MIAA with 26 tackles (seven solo) and joins his teammate Andrew Bradley as the only student-athletes for the Scots with at least one interception, fumble recovery, and pass breakup so far in 2026.
 
Kluk, a senior punter from Macomb, Michigan, put up a performance that was straight out of a videogame, pinning Adrian at their own one-yard line three times (once each in the first three quarters) and again at the Bulldogs' three in the fourth.
 
The Lutheran North High School product averaged a career-best 46.4 yards per punt, aided by a career-long 58-yard bomb, and had multiple connections of 50+ yards for the second time as a Scot.
 
He currently leads the MIAA while ranking sixth in the nation for punting at 43.9 yards a kick and if he keeps this pace, he would shatter the team's all-time punt average record which is held by Matt Brown from 2007 (41.5).
 
King and Kluk will look to guide Alma to its 15th straight MIAA win on Saturday at Trine (1 p.m.) and play the role of spoiler for the Thunder who will be celebrating their Homecoming weekend.
