ALMA, Mich. — Alma (6-7,0-0 Michigan Intercol. Ath. Assn.) dominated Kuyper (0-3) in a three set (25–6, 25-4, 25-10) victory on Tuesday evening at the Art Smith Arena. The Scots built a strong lead early on in each set. 

The Scots finished the match with 36 kills and hit .431. The defense limited Kuyper to just 9 kills and a -.079 attack percentage across the three sets. 

Alma's serving game proved to be powerful as the team collected 17 service aces compared to two for Kuyper. Makenna Johnson accounted for nine of these aces, while Rudy Maynard and Kennedy Weston each added three. Maynard also led the Alma offense in assists, recording 21 across two sets played.

At the net, sophomore Maggie McKale stood out with seven kills on 12 attacks, a .500 hitting percentage. Emily Carling and Allie Fish each recorded six kills.

Defensively, Maynard led the defense with seven digs. The team totaled 37 digs on the day.

The Scots were particularly sharp early, hitting .591 in the opening set while holding Kuyper to three kills and a -.048 attack percentage. Alma followed with a .520 hitting percentage in the second set before closing out the match with a 25-10 third-set victory.

The Scots will be back at home on Friday at 6:30 p.m. as they take on MIAA opponent Calvin in a non-conference match-up. They look forward to welcoming alumni back to Art Smith Arena in celebration of homecoming.
