Alma, MI – After six years as a member of the Alma College Athletics department. Kiana (Verdugo) Verdugo-Maday has departed Alma for another opportunity. She served as Assistant Vice President for Athletics, Senior Woman Administrator, and as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator on campus.
During her time at Alma, Verdugo-Maday had a wide impact across campus. She oversaw athletics compliance for the department's 22 NCAA sponsored sports, staff development opportunities, sport supervision, gameday ticketing and operations, budgetary management, advancement and corporate sponsorship, and served as the primary supervisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She played a part in directing the ticketing and operations of Alma College's commencement for several years, as well as serving as a Special Olympics Club advisor. She was also the MIAA sport coordinator for the sport of track and field. Additionally, she served as the tournament director for four NCAA Division III Football playoff games, and was a member of the NCAA Division III Cross Country/Track and Field Championships Committee during the 2025 cross country and 2026 indoor championship season.
Verdugo-Maday served as Interim Director of Athletics from late-February to mid-October of 2025. She was elevated to the position of Assistant Vice President of Athletics in July of 2024.
Prior to that, she had served as Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Operations. Verdugo was promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Operations and Compliance / Senior Woman Administrator on February 10, 2021, and was named a Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Alma College on February 1, 2023. She was hired on as Assistant Athletic Director for Operations and Compliance / Senior Woman Administrator in May of 2020.
Verdugo-Maday graduated from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota in 2018 with bachelor's degrees in secondary education and english. She was a captain of the track and field team and earned Academic All-MIAC in 2017 and `18. She was also named an Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar, a USTFCCCA Academic All-American, and an NCAA Woman of the Year nominee in 2018. She earned her masters degree in sport coaching, leadership, and administration from Michigan State in 2022.
