Alma's Griffin Named to MATS Hall of Fame Class of 2026

Griffin will be the 40th inductee in the history of the hall of fame

Alma, MI – Alma College's Denny Griffin has been named to the 2026 Michigan Athletic Trainers Society Hall of Fame Class of 2026. He will be inducted on June 5, 2026 during the 2026 MATS Annual Clinical Symposium at the Kellog Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing, Michigan.
 
Griffin, who just concluded his 38th season as Alma's Head Softball Coach, will enter year 44 at Alma College in the fall of 2026. Before he got his start in collegiate coaching, Griffin began his tenure at Alma in athletic training. He has served as the Head Athletic Trainer, Athletic Training Education Program Director, academic advisor, and instructor in the Integrative Physiology and Health Science major.
 
Denny will be the 40th member of the hall of fame, which has been inducting members since 1990, and has inducted at least one member every year since 2013. He will be the first Alma College athletic trainer to earn the accolade, and the 5thMIAA representative in the hall. Joining Griffin as an honoree during the 2026 conference is former student, and Alma College alumni, Sam Bohy. Bohy is being recognized with the Secondary Schools Athletic Trainer Award.
