Ramirez Records 19 Saves in Loss to Adrian

The 19 saves are the eight most in a single game in Scots history

Alma, MI – Alma College Women's Lacrosse opened MIAA conference play on Saturday, hosting Adrian College. The Scots were defeated by a final of 20-4. The Bulldogs got off to a hot start, piling up the first six goals of the game. It was Olivia Lazenby who got Alma on the board with 51 seconds left in the first quarter, and Alma trailed 7-1 after one. In the second quarter, Adrian struck twice more, and it was Makayla Kozal with a woman-down marker to make it 9-2, where the score would rest at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Bulldogs scored first, but Kozal and Allyson Harvey answered for Alma to pull back within six at 10-4. Throughout the remainder of the third, and the fourth quarter, Adrian piled on 10 more goals, with the final score at 20-4.

Kozal's two goals led the way offensively for Alma. Madison Ramirez had a team high three ground balls, and Bryn Bishop caused two turnovers. Sarah Bollinger collected three draw controls. Ramirez made 19 saves in the loss, the eighth most in a single game in Scots history.

The Scots are back in action on Wednesday when they host Saint Mary's College.
