BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. – Opening their season at a neutral location, the Alma College men's lacrosse team faced the University of Michigan-Dearborn in their season opener. The Scots were outmatched to begin the season, dropping to 0-1 after a final score of 19-1.
Alma's lone goal came in the final minutes of the third quarter as first year international player David Meyer scored his first collegiate goal in the United States man-up with an assist coming from freshman Nolan O'Dea recording his first collegiate point as well. Patrick Hodges and O'Dea led the Scots with two shots on goal apiece while Curtis Pleiness, Connor Cracium and Brenner Quick all tied for a team-high three ground balls. Freshman Brady Searer led Alma defensively with three caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Preston Stelljes recorded 11 saves in the contest, playing all 60 minutes.
Alma will now head across state lines as they will travel to Tiffin, Ohio for a midweek match with the Heidelberg Student Princes on Wednesday, February 18th. Face off for the contest is slated for 6:00 PM.
