Bollinger Scores Three as WLAX Falls in Season Opener

The senior scored three to along with a game high in ground balls

Alma, MI – Alma College Women's Lacrosse was in action on Saturday, opening their 2026 season against Capital University. The Scots were defeated by a final of 12-6.
 
The game looked like it would be a blowout in the opening quarter. The Scots spent most of the period in their own end, repelling Comet attackers. The visitors finally broke through just over three minutes in, and piled on five goals over the course of the quarter. The Comets led 5-0 at the end of the first. Capital scored again out of the period break, before Makayla Kozal converted from a Makenna Pobocik assist to get Alma on the board. The Comets answered minutes later, and the final 10 minutes of the quarter went scoreless. The Scots trailed 7-1 at halftime.
 
Coming out of the half the Comets scored at the 11:56 mark, before a pair of Sarah Bollinger goals over two minutes cut the deficit down to 8-3. Capital scored a minute later, and Bollinger needed just 30 seconds to make it a hat-trick at 7:39. After one more Comet goal, it was Allyson Harvey who scored her first career goal on a free position with 14 seconds to go in the period to bring the gap back down to five. The Scots trailed 10-5 at the end of three. In the final period, Pobocik netted her first goal of the season just over a minute in, cutting the Comet lead to four. However, the visitors scored a pair of goals over the remaining 13 minutes, holding the Scots off the scoreboard to claim the win. The final read 12-6.
 
It was a positive opener for the Scots, who held Capital to 5-10 on clears in the loss. Sarah Bollinger led with three goals and a team-high four ground balls. She also secured three draw controls. Makenna Pobocik collected a game-high four caused turnovers to go with her goal. In the net, Madison Ramirez made 11 saves on 23 shots faced.
 
The Scots are back in action on Saturday at Madonna.
