Alma, MI – Alma College Men's Soccer hosted Heidelberg University on Saturday evening. The Scots celebrated their seniors in the graduating class of 2026, and defeated the Student Princes by a final of 2-1.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair, that saw Alma earn their fair share of scoring opportunities. Despite putting four shots on target in the half, the Scots were unable to find the back of the net. The teams made it to halftime level at 0-0.
Out of the halftime break, it was
Fabinho Vasco who found the back of the net in the 48
th minute to break the tie. The Scots put together a solid buildup, and
Kaiden Link found Vasco, who placed a shot into the lower right corner. The Student Princes answered in the 56
th minute, tying the game at 1-1. In the 72
nd minute,
Cayden Brummels scored the game-winning goal, sneaking the ball past a sprawling keeper.
The Scots held out the remainder of the contest to secure the win, 2-1.
Grant Kaifas started in goal, and was relieved by
Bradshaw Uhlmann. Uhlmann went on to make one save, and collect the win in goal.
Alma moves to 5-4-1, and has one more non-conference matchup on Wednesday, before opening MIAA play.
