Alma, MI – Alma College Volleyball hosted opening day action of the first ever Alma College Invite on Friday night. Amid a pair of neutral site games, Alma took on Anderson University (IN), falling in three sets.
The Scots got off to a hot start, battling the Ravens to a 10-10 tie early on. Anderson forced a Scots timeout at 17-14, and pushed on to the set win at 25-16. The teams were neck-and-neck throughout the middle set, with Anderson holding a slight edge in the late stages. Down 23-19, Alma rallied to a 24-24 deadlock, but Anderson edged the set win at 26-24. The Ravens pulled away in the final set, working with a lead throughout the frame en route to a 25-15 set win.
Alma was outkilled 45-26 in the loss. The Scots were led by 
Emily Carling with eight kills, followed by 
Madison Munley with seven, and 
Natalie Dutton with six. 
Olivia Deeb led with 14 assists, and 
Rudy Maynard had seven. Defensively, Carling led with 11 digs, and Steiner had 10.
Alma is back at it tomorrow, with games against Capital University and Concordia Chicago.
