Volleyball Drops Two at 46th Annual ONU Invite

Ada, OH – Alma College Volleyball was on the road on Friday, taking part in the 46th Annual Ohio Northern University Invite. The Scots were felled by Bluffton 3-0, before losing to Millikin 3-1.
 
Bluffton 3, Alma 0
Alma matched up with a hot Beavers offense in their first game of the evening. The Scots were outkilled 44-23 in the game, with Bluffton also landed 12 aces to Alma's three. The Scots dropped the opening set 25-13, the second set 25-22, and the third set 25-12.

Madison Munley led the way with eight kills. Maggie McKale and Emily Carling each tallied four kills. Grace Steiner recorded a pair of aces to go with eight digs. Carling led defensive efforts with nine digs, and Olivia Deeb had seven. Deeb also led the way with eight assists, with Vicky Villarosa and Rudy Maynard adding four apiece.
 
Millikin 3, Alma 1
The Scots's second game saw them face off with Millikin University, who had been receiving votes on the national stage earlier in the season. The Scots got out to a 9-3 lead, pushing out to a 14-6 advantage, and leading by as much as nine points. Alma went on to win the set by 11, 25-14. Millikin rallied in the next set, winning 25-21, then going on to take the third set 32-30. The Big Blue won the fourth and final set by a score of 25-16.

Natalie Dutton and Carling led Scots attackers with 11 kills each. Nevea Bush had six. Villarosa led with 15 assists, Deeb had 13. Steiner led the defense with 15 digs, and Makenna Johnson had 12. Katelyn Schell recorded five total blocks in the loss.

The Scots look forward to next weekend, when it hosts the Alma College Invite.
