Alma, MI – Alma College Men's Soccer hosted Bluffton University on Saturday evening in non-conference action. Alma scored three goals in the second half to take the win, 3-1.
The first half was evenly matched, with both teams scrapping to get a look at goal. The half saw just three total corner kicks, and six shots. With a scoreless tie at halftime, Alma came out firing in the second half. The tie was finally broken in the 54
th minute, when Christian Cepeda got on the end of a
Gavyn Moore cross to put Alma up 1-0. 17 minutes later,
Fabinho Vasco became the first Scot to score multiple goals this season, when he connected with a pass from Brendan Dore. The final strike came from Raul Lopez, who scored an outstanding goal in the 77
th minute to put the Scots three goals to the good.
Bluffton scored a goal with under four minutes to play, but the Scots held on for the win.
Alma outshot the Beavers 16-11, although the shots on goal were eight apiece.
Vasco's goal puts him in the team lead with two on the year.
Bradshaw Uhlmann stopped six of seven shots on target in the win.
Alma moves to 3-1-1, and is back at it tomorrow, when they host Anderson University at 4 PM.
