Earlham, IN – Alma College Volleyball was on the road on Friday night, taking on Denison University in neutral site play at Earlham College. The Scots fell by a score of 3-0.
Denison's offense was evident throughout the game, as the Big Red hit over .220 in all three sets. The Alma offense struggled early, although the Scots never fell behind severely on the scoreboard. Alma dropped the opening set 25-19, the second set 25-21, and the third set needed extra volleyball before the Big Red took it, 29-27. As the game went on, the Scots offense picked up, doubling their hitting clip from .059 in the opening set to .184 in the second. The Scots also outblocked the Big Red by a total of 5-2.
Maggie McKale led the way with six kills, and
Natalie Dutton had five along with
Madison Munley.
Emily Carling registered a pair of aces.
Vicky Villarosa and
Addisyn Calcamuggio each had an ace as well.
Olivia Deeb collected nine assists, Villarosa seven, and
Rudy Maynard three.
Grace Steiner led the way with 14 digs defensively, and Carling had 12.
Alma is back in action tomorrow for two more games in Indiana.
