Men's Soccer Completes Second Half Comeback Against Grace Christian

Alma, MI – Alma College Men's Soccer welcomed in the Tigers of Grace Christian University on Thursday evening for their 2025 home opener. Alma was victorious by a final of 2-1 after a second half comeback.

The first half of the game, although hotly contested, was quiet on the scoresheet. The highlight of the half came when Landon Soule went full extension to stop a rocket of a shot from a GCU attacker. The Tigers did manage to take the lead when a throw in was tapped in with 15 seconds left in the opening half. Alma trailed 1-0 at the break.

Out of the halftime break, the Scots were flying. The home 11 equalized the game in the 56th minute, when JJ Riggsby played a through ball to Fletcher Van Howe, who fired a rocket into the upper right-hand corner. Alma would take the lead 15 minutes later, when Riggsby got on the end of a Fabinho Vasco pass, placing it in the bottom right corner. Alma shut things down, and held on for a 2-1 win.

The goals were the first of the year for both Van Howe and Riggsby, the latter of whom recorded a three-point game. Vasco's helper was the first assist of his collegiate career.

Soule made four saves in the win.

Alma moves to 2-1-1, and looks forward to hosting Bluffton University on Saturday.
