Angola, IN – Alma College Women's Lacrosse was on the road Tuesday evening to continue MIAA play at Trine. Alma was defeated by a final of 18-4.
Trine opened the scoring just under four minutes in, with a pair of powerplay free position attempts.
Sarah Bollinger struck back for Alma, cutting the deficit to 2-1 at the seven-minute mark. Trine's offense found some heat in response, and the Thunder scored six straight to end the quarter leading 8-1. The scoring run continued into the second quarter, with Alma trailing 12-1 before a low shot found the back of the net from
Rileigh McGeorge with 30 seconds to go in the half. The Scots trailed 12-2 at the break.
The third quarter turned into a defensive showdown, with both teams managing just one goal in the period. Trine struck first, before Bollinger's second of the game brought the score to 13-3, where it would settle after three quarters.
Briar Mackey scored at the 4:16 mark in the fourth, but Trine was out of reach, pulling away to an 18-4 final.
Bollinger's two goals led the way offensively for Alma, with Mackey and McGeorge each tallying once.
Jacqueline Daigneault led with seven groundballs, along with
Alexis Norko who also collected seven.
The Scots are back at home against the defending MIAA champions on Saturday.
