Men's and Women's Tennis Drop Pair of MIAA Contests

Angola, IN – Alma College Tennis continued MIAA conference play in the last week, taking part in a pair of matches on both the men's and women's sides.
 
WOMEN
Adrian 5, Alma 2
On Tuesday, Alma welcomed Adrian to the Superior Street Tennis Courts. The Bulldogs took the #1 doubles matchup over Leah Wronikowski and Kayla Weller, 6-3. Karly Kushner and Jada Zerlaut won 7-5 at #2 doubles. Holly Hall and Sophia Hauffe were felled 6-4 at #3 to give Adrian the team point for doubles.

In singles play, Kushner was defeated 6-0, 6-2 at #1. The #2 matchup saw Wronikowski win 7-6, 0-6, 6-2. Weller was defeated 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 at #3, and Zerlaut was dropped 6-2, 6-3 at #4. Holly Hall lost 6-1, 6-4 at #5, and Salma Laraichi was defeated 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 to round things out at #6.
 
Trine 6, Alma 1
On Saturday, the Scots took a trip down to Indiana to take on Trine University. The #1 doubles team of Weller and Wronikowski was victorious by a score of 6-2. Kushner and Zerlaut were defeated 6-0 at #2, and Trine took the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Hall and Laney Voisinet at #3.

In singles play, Kushner was downed 6-2, 6-2 at #1 singles. Wronikowski was victorious, 6-3, 6-2 at #2 singles. Weller  fell in a tiebreaker at #3 6-2, 4-6, 1-0. At #4, Zerlaut lost 6-1, 6-2. A 7-6, 2-6, 1-0 final also saw Hall defeated at #5. Abby Hill was dropped at #6 singles by a final score of 6-3, 6-1.

Alma has a week off before their next contest at The University of Olivet on April 22.

MEN
Adrian 7, Alma 0
Adrian's men made the trip to Alma on Wednesday. The Bulldogs won the doubles point, with the team of Jake Lasceski and Ashton Trnka being felled 6-4 at #1 doubles. Tatenda Mukudu and August Sack lost 6-4 at #2, and the duo of Eli Festerling and John Laxton lost 6-3 to round out doubles play.

Lasceski lost 6-0, 6-0 to open singles play at #1. Sack was defeated 6-4, 6-4 at #2, and the #3 matchup went the way of Festerling's opponent in a 6-1, 6-0 decision. Trnka lost at #4 singles in a tiebreaker, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0. At #5, Laxton was defeated 6-1, 6-4. Rounding things out, a 6-1, 6-1 score saw Daniel Hickey fall at #6 singles.

Trine 7, Alma 0
On Saturday, Alma took on Trine University on the road. In doubles play, Lasceski and Trnka lost 6-3 at #1. The #2 pairing of Festerling and Mukudu lost 6-1. Rounding out doubles play, Hickey and Laxton were defeated 6-1 at #3.

At #1 singles, Lasceski was felled 6-0, 6-2. Festerling lost at #2 by scores of 6-2, 6-3. The #3 matchup saw Trnka go down in a 6-0, 6-2 defeat. Mukudu was able to push his #4 contest to a tiebreaker, losing 6-1, 3-6, 1-0. At #5, Laxton lost 6-1, 6-2, and scores of 6-1, 6-0 saw Hickey round things out with a loss at #6.

The Scots return home after a week off to take on Albion on April 21.
