Women's Lacrosse Opens MIAA Play Against Calvin

Alma, MI – Alma College Women's Lacrosse opened MIAA conference play against Calvin University on Tuesday evening. The Scots were bested by the Knights, 18-2 the final score.

Calvin opened the game on a hot streak, scoring four straight goals to force an Alma timeout. The Knights would lead 9-0 after the opening frame, and increased the lead to 13-1 at halftime. The Scots got on the board late in the second quarter when Sarah Bollinger used a free position attempt to fire a low turnaround marker past the Calvin netminder.

The defenses settled in during the third quarter, with Calvin limited to two goals in the period, and Alma held off the scoresheet. The Scots managed one more tally, another Bollinger goal on a powerplay, en-route to an 18-2 final score.

Bollinger scored both Alma goals, caused a team high three turnovers, and collected a pair of ground balls.

Alexis Norko (4-2) started the game in goal, making four saves. Cassidy Smith entered in halftime relief, making five saves on 10 shots faced.

Alma has a week off before continuing their conference slate against Kalamazoo.
