Ada, OH – Alma College Softball was on the road on Tuesday afternoon for a road twinbill against Ohio Northern. Alma swept the day, winning by finals of 6-1 and 14-5.

Alma opened the scoring early in the first game, scoring the top of the 1
st inning when
Morgan Brandau singled home
Reneigh Sandmann. The Scots would add to their lead in the 3
rd, when a Brandau double scored
Peyton Fether to make it 2-0. Moments later,
Julia Duncan dropped a single into center field to score
Lily Thompson, putting Alma up three.
Sandmann did more damage with her bat in the 6
th. The first baseman singled up the middle, allowing
Katelyn Thomas to scamper home. Leading 4-0, Alma allowed their only run of the game when Ohio Northern connected on an RBI single. A
Jordyn Porter RBI single in the top of the 7
th moved the score to it's eventual final of 6-1.
Sandmann (2-4) Brandau (2-4) and
Sophia Somerset (2-3) led the bats for the Scots.
Morgan Westall (2-6) pitched all 7.0 innings in the W, striking out 10 while walking just two.
Alma 14, Ohio Northern 5 (5 Innings)
In game two the Scots managed another 1
st inning run to take an early lead. Duncan singled home Fether to put the Scots on the board with a 1-0 lead. The Scots then broke the game wide open in the 2
nd inning. Sandmann walked in a run with the bases loaded, before singles from Fether and Duncan jumped the lead from 2-0 to 6-0. The Alma bats were just getting started, as Carli Lozmack connected on an RBI single, and
Jenna Holzinger doubled home two more runs to make it 9-0. The visitors hit double-digits thanks to a Porter RBI double, and the bleeding only stopped after Fether hit her second RBI single of the inning. When the dust settled, Alma led 11-0.
Ohio Northern didn't go away lightly. The Polar Bears tacked on four runs of their own in what turned out to be a marathon 2
nd inning. Sandmann tallied an RBI on a groundout to short to make it 12-4 in the 4
th, and the hosts scored in the bottom of the inning to answer. It was Alma who had the last laugh, as
Kendal Holzinger and
Jenna Holzinger accounted for a pair of runs in the 5
th, ending the scoring at 14-5 in favor of the Scots.
Fether (3-4) Duncan (2-3) J. Holzinger (3-4) and
Kylie Halverson (2-4) led the way in a 17-hit offensive clinic by Alma's offense.
Mikaylyn Kenney (4-3) pitched 4.0 innings to start the game, striking out a pair.
Bella Treloar pitched 1.0 innings in relief, striking out one.
Alma stands at 6-10, and looks forward to a home date with Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday.
