Hochmuth Tabbed as Head Athletic Trainer

Alma, MI – Alma College Athletics is proud to announce Samantha Hochmuth as its next Head Athletic Trainer, as announced by Interim Director of Athletics Kiana Verdugo-Maday.

"We are very excited to welcome Sammy into the Alma Scots family." said Verdugo-Maday. "Her experience at the Division III level is one of many factors that make her a great fit for this position. We can't wait to see how she leads the Athletic Training department forward."

Hochmuth comes to Alma from Fontbonne University, a Division III institution in Missouri, and was in her third academic year as Head Athletic Trainer. At Fontbonne, she was the sole provider of coverage for the departments' 20 offered sports.

"I couldn't be more excited to become Alma College's Head Athletic Trainer." Said Hochmuth. "I want to thank the administration, athletic training staff, and athletics staff for their patience as I finished my time at Fontbonne. I am excited to bring my passion for being an advocate for these student-athletes to Alma. Go Scots!"

Hochmuth moved to Fontbonne after being an Assistant Athletic Trainer at William Penn University. While there, she provided medical coverage for men's soccer, women's wrestling and women's lacrosse. She also oversaw exercise science students within the athletic training room.

Prior to her stint with William Penn, Hochmuth was a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at McKendree. She evaluated, treated, and provided medical coverage for ice hockey, men's and women's water polo, swimming, and diving.

She also spent two years as an Athletic Training Student at NCAA Division II Winona State University.

Sammy is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Illinois Athletic Trainers Association, Iowa Athletic Trainers Association, and the Early Professional Committee in Iowa.

A Wisconsin native, Hochmuth graduated with a Master of Business Administration from McKendree University in May 2020 and has a Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training from Winona State in 2017.
