Angola, IN - Alma College Volleyball was on the road on Wednesday night to continue MIAA conference play. The Scots battled through three competitive sets, falling 3–0 by scores of 25–20, 25–19, and 25–22.
Alma opened the night strong, trading points early in the first set before the Thunder connected on a four-point run to take a 20-16 lead late, going on to win the set. The second set saw Trine open with a five-point run, only for Alma to tally seven straight of their own to take the lead. a set of sustained point scoring runs saw the Scots come out on the short end, with the Thunder using a 7-1 run late to pull the set win from an 18-18 tie. In the third, Trine jumped out to an early 10-5 lead, with Alma tying things at 16-16. The set was tied up again at 20-20, before the hosts pulled out a short burst at the end to close things out.
Madison Stevenson and Emily Carling led the Scots attack with nine kills each, and Maggie Mckale added five more. Olivia Deeb tallied 18 assists, with Rudy Maynard contributing 12. Defensively, Grace Steiner posted a game-high 21 digs to anchor the Scots' back row, also tallying a service ace. Katelyn Schell took the lead at the net for Alma, collecting three total blocks on the night.
With the loss Alma drops to 9-16, 2-5 in MIAA play. The Scots will close out the regular season on Friday night at home when they welcome Calvin University for Senior Night.
