Alma, MI – Alma College Men's Soccer hosted Kalamazoo College on Tuesday evening to open MIAA conference play. The Scots were defeated by a final of 3-0.
The first half initially went the way of Kzoo, with Alma spending the first 20 minutes in their own end. However, substitutions around the 25
th minute shifted the tide, and the Scots poured on the pressure for the remainder of the half. Despite their best effort, Alma was unable to score, and the teams were tied 0-0 after 45 minutes.
Kalamazoo broke through in the 61
st minute, connecting on a corner kick opportunity to take the lead. Despite Alma having several late chances, the Scots failed to find the back of the net, with the visitors converting on a pair of penalty kicks in 77
th and 87
th minutes.
Alma outshot Kalamazoo 17-14, but were outpaced in shots on target at 10-4. The game also featured 25 corner kicks, with the split coming down 14-11 in favor of the Hornets.
Bradshaw Uhlmann saved seven of 10 shots in the loss.
The Scots drop to 6-5-1, and start MIAA play 0-1. Alma is back in action on Saturday at Albion College.
