Volleyball Falls to Olivet

Alma, MI - Alma College volleyball dropped a three-set decision to the University of Olivet on Saturday afternoon, falling by scores of 25–17, 26–24, and 25–13 in MIAA conference play.

Olivet controlled the opening set, jumping out to an early lead and maintaining steady pressure to take the frame 25–17. The Scots responded in the second with one of their strongest stretches of the match, battling point-for-point before the Comets narrowly escaped with a 26–24 win. In the third, Olivet used a strong offensive push to close out the match.

Katelyn Schell led Alma's attack with eight kills, and Emily Carling had five. Grace Steiner anchored the defense with 18 digs to go with an ace, and Carling had 12 digs. The Scots finished with 29 kills and six blocks in the loss.

For Olivet, Payton Smith turned in a dominant effort with 20 kills and a .293 hitting percentage. Jordyn Smith paced the offense with 37 assists, and Julia Hall added seven total blocks to lead the Comets at the net.

With the result, Alma moves to 9-12 overall and 2-3 in MIAA play. The Scots will look to bounce back when they travel to Madonna on Tuesday.
