Alma, MI – Alma College volleyball hosted Albion College (18-2, 3-0 MIAA) on Tuesday night in MIAA conference play. Playing a tough Briton team, which is receiving votes in the AVCA national top 25 poll, Alma was defeated 3–0 on the night by scores of 25–14, 25–14, and 25–11.
The Scots were led offensively by
Maggie McKale, who tallied a team-high five kills on nine swings.
Mallorie Nevadomski added four kills, while
Emily Carling contributed two service aces and seven digs.
Olivia Deeb had a team-high seven assists, and
Rudy Maynard had six.
Grace Steiner led the defensive efforts with a team-high nine digs, and
Makenna Johnson had six.
Albion totaled 41 kills to Alma's 17, and won the battle at the service line with seven aces to three for the Scots. The hosts held the edge in total digs, which landed at 41-38 in favor of Alma.
The Britons were led by Carly Frank with 16 kills, while setter Molly Edmunds had 31 assists.
With the loss, Alma moves to 9-11 on the season, 2-2 in MIAA play, and will look to rebound this weekend when the Scots welcome in The University of Olivet.
