Fort Wayne, IN – Alma College Women's Wrestling traveled to Indiana Tech on Saturday to take part in the Warrior Women's Open. Alma placed 9
th of 29 teams with 121 points.
Ryen Allen competed at 138 in the Maximus division. After dropping her opening bout, she went on to rip off three straight wins. Allen won over Margaret Boncosky of IU via fall, before pinning Elliana Balderrama of Joliet Junior College. After scoring another tech fall victory over Katheen Fisher of Brewton Parker, she bowed out of the bracket.
Gabriella Allen was in 160 Maximus division, winning her first bout over Hailey Sutton of Providence by fall. Allen went on to place 8
th in the division.
Paige VanSetters competed in the pancake division at 103. She scored a tech fall win over Grace Connor of York, before pinning Veronica Greene of Baker. After dropping a pair of bouts, VanSetters placed 7
th following a win by fall over Lillian Hackworth of Missouri Baptist.
Caroline Farris was the in pancake division at 110. Farris won her opening bout by fall over Bella Savage of University of the Cumberlands. After being dropped into the consolation bracket, she defeated Hayle Peck of North Central College by a 2-0 decision, before winning the 5
th place match via fall over Manchester's Jackeline Shackleford.
MacKenzie Burger competed in 110 pancake division as well, winning her opening bout over Adriana Sanchez of Purdue Wrestling Club by tech fall, similarly winning over Rylee Touhalisky of Otterbein by tech fall as well. A 16 second pin of Aveona Edwards got the sophomore through to the semifinal, where Burger was defeated. She rebounded to win the 3
rd place match over Kinzie Rogers of Baker by tech fall.
Keegan Gonzalez dropped her opening bout in the 117 pancake division, coming back with three straight wins by fall. She defeated Sadie Allred of Southern Virginia in just 18 seconds, going on to defeat Brittney Vincens of Campbellsville in 4:49, and Sharla Juhas of Adrian in 52 seconds.
Chloe Colton placed 3
rd in the 117 pancake division, winning her first bout over Brewton Parker's Aliyah Gonzalez by fall. Colton went on to defeat Nadia Thomas of Norther Central via a 16-7 decision, before being dropped in the semifinal. In the 3
rd place match, she defeated Zoe Shariq via fall.
MaryAlice Lynch won her opening bout in the 124 pancacke division by fall in just 17 seconds over Katalyn Dowell of Manchester, before dropping a pair of matches. She won the 5
th place match by fall, again over Dowell.
Virginia Chapates picked up a pair of wins in the 131 pancake division, pinning John Carroll's Hallie Green in 1:34, and defeating Seani Casperson of Southern Virginia by tech fall.
Carly Cowles placed 6
th at 131 in the pancake division. She opened with three straight wins by fall, defeats Anna Skoda or Montreat, Ilani Jones-Wallace of Mount Union, and Elizabeth Riggs (Missouri Valley). Cowles scored one more pin, over Huntingdon's Chloe Parets, en route to 6
th place.
MaKayla Gowell scored a victory over Emma Skipper of Trine via fall at 138.
Kenley Riley defeated Hope Howard of the Purdue Wrestling Club via fall at 180.
The Scots are back in action at Tiffin University on February 1.
