Hornets Snag Win Over Men's Basketball in Final Minutes

The Alma College Men's Basketball team fell to the Kalamazoo College Hornets in a competitive game with a score of 78-67 at home. Despite a strong effort, Alma could not overcome Kalamazoo's early second half surge.

The game began with both teams trading baskets, showcasing defensive intensity and competitive play. Alma's Donovan Collins led the way for the Scots in the first half, hitting two three-pointers. Raine Rodich also provided a scoring punch for the Scots with 10 first half points. The first half ended with Kalamazoo narrowly leading 30-27, as Alma struggled to capitalize on their three-point attempts, shooting just 16.7% from beyond the arc. Alma's defense forced 11 turnovers in the game, helping to keep the score close in the early going.

The second half saw Kalamazoo ramp up its efficiency, shooting 50% from the field and 46.2% from beyond the arc. Bench contributions proved pivotal for the visitors, which helped push their lead to double digits midway through the period. Alma battled to stay in the game, with Collins finishing with 14 points, including four three-pointers, and Rodich adding three assists to his team-high scoring effort. Jeremy Rosario contributed nine points and five rebounds, while Paul Gadde provided a strong presence on the boards with eight rebounds to go along with nine points. However, the Scots couldn't contain Kalamazoo's second-chance opportunities, surrendering 17 points off offensive rebounds. Alma showcased its depth, with contributions from 11 different players. Collins and Gadde anchored the perimeter and paint, while Logan St. Martin made an impact on defense with three steals.

The Scots return to action next week as they host Albion College on Wednesday, January 22nd. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM and the theme is "Costume Chaos".
