Gambier, OH – On Saturday, September 7th, Alma College Women's Soccer faced Kenyon College at Mavec Field. In a hard-fought match, the Owls secured a 3-1 victory.
Kenyon came out aggressively, pressing on offense with two shots blocked and three shots saved before breaking through with the first goal 18 minutes into the game. Alma struggled to find offensive momentum in the first half but relied on a strong defensive performance to keep the score at 1-0 heading into halftime.
The Owls stayed on the attack to start the second half, scoring 17 seconds in to extend their lead to 2-0. Alma responded quickly with a goal of their own on a
Breanna McCluskey penalty kick at the 52-minute mark to cut the deficit to 2-1. Despite Alma's comeback chance, Kenyon found the back of the net again with 25 minutes left to play, adding an insurance goal to make it 3-1. Both teams remained scoreless for the rest of the match, sealing the win for the Owls.
Allyson Harvey attempted a shot on goal to go along with the score by McCluskey.
Mya Pofahl recorded eight saves on 11 opportunities to help hold the Owls to three goals.

Alma will look for their first win of the season at home on Wednesday, September 11th at 4:00 pm against Lawrence Tech.
