Alma, MI – #15/16 Alma College Football hosted Hope College on Saturday afternoon. The Flying Dutchmen rushing attack was too much for the Scots, as Alma dropped the game 34-13.
After exchanging punts on the opening drive, Hope hit the scoreboard first, cashing in on a 7-play 67 yard drive to go up 7-0. The Scots offense turned the ball over on downs, and at the end of the 1
st, the score was still at 7-0.
Hope tacked on a field goal and another score while holding the Scots offense in check. The visitors showed up in the trenches, hemming Alma's run game and limiting production overall. After a tipped pass was intercepted, the visitors walked down the field and scored as the quarter ran out to put Alma down 24-0.
Out of the half, Hope used the run game to continue to dominate the run game, scoring on their opening drive. Down 31-0, Alma's offense roared to life, going 75 yards in 7 plays, culminating in a Brock Miller screen pass TD from 6-yards out. After another Hope score, Alma scored again on a longer drive, 78 yards in 2 minutes, a 55-yard TD pass from
Carter St. John to
Devon Frenchko the scoring play to make it 31-13.
