Box Score 2 Alma, MI – Alma College Volleyball traveled to Albion on Friday to take on U Chicago in non-conference action, before returning home to take on Hiram College and Delta College.

The Scots their weekend against the University of Chicago on Friday night. Alma dropped the opening set 25-11 after the opposition raced out to a 6-2 lead and worked their way to a win. Chicago jumped out to another early lead at 8-2 in the second set, and cruised to the set win 25-14. The Scots battled to a 13-10 lead in the third set, but Chicago used a 6-0 run to take the lead, and never gave it back, winning 25-20.
Madison Bott led with 8 kills and 6 digs in the loss.
Nevea Bush landed 5 kills, and
Madison Munley had 4.
Vicky Villarosa tallied 12 assists, and
Olivia Deeb 8 with 6 digs.
Callie Smith posted 4 total blocks to lead Alma's net defense.
Alma 3, Hiram 0
Alma opened Saturday with a game against Hiram College. After going up 12-7, the Scots took the opening set of the match 25-19. In the second set, Hiram battled with Alma, and the lead switched hands 4 times before things were said and done. The hosts pulled off a late 7-2 run to take the set 25-22. The Scots were on cruise control for most of the set, with Alma holding leads of 5+ points at multiple points in the frame. Hiram pulled close late in the late stages, but Alma put things away comfortably 25-21.
Madison Munley led with 10 kills and 2 blocks.
Madison Bott tallied 9 kills, with a block and 9 digs.
Callie Smith recorded 7 kills, 1 ace, and a block.
Vicky Villarosa totaled 19 assists and 12 digs to nab a double-double, and
Olivia Deeb recorded 16 assists.
Grace Steiner led the game with 15 digs.
Alma 3, Delta 1 (Exhibition)
The Scots took on Delta College in exhibition action in their third game of the day. Alma rotated a younger lineup in, and went up 2-0 before Delta could answer. The Scots put things away handily on the next set, and Alma ended the day with a W.
Alma looks forward to a Tuesday road matchup at Division II Northwood University.
