Alma, MI – Alma College Volleyball hosted Madonna University in their home opener on Wednesday night. The Scots were swept by the Crusaders, 25-23, 25-19, 25-19.
The opening set went back and forth, with neither side able to pull away. Alma found themselves up 23-21 late in the set, but a timeout by Madonna stalled out the momentum. The Crusaders pulled off a 4-0 run to take the opener 25-23. The second set saw Madonna use handful of small 2 point runs to slowly build a margin, and pulled out a 25-19 set win. In the third, the Scots were unable to slow Madonna's offensive attack, and fell behind quickly. After trailing 17-8, Alma pulled off a small run to close the gap, but fell 25-19..
Callie Smith landed 6 kills, and
Madison Bott picked up 5 to go with 2 aces.
Nevea Bush also added 5.
Vicky Villarosa tallied 18 set assists, and
Olivia Deeb totaled 7.
Grace Steiner recorded 15 digs, and Bott ended with 10. Bush and Smith both totaled 2 blocks in the game.
Alma is back in action on the road Friday against the University of Chiacgo in neutral site action at Albion College.
