Women's Lacrosse Battles to 7-Goal Win Over Adrian

Alma, MI – Alma College Women's Lacrosse welcomed Adrian College on Wednesday evening. The Scots battled to a 7-goal conference win over the Bulldogs.

It took a while to get the game's first goal, with Sam Peterson finally breaking through at the 6:36 mark in the first quarter. Adrian was able to answer to tie the game up just 30 seconds later. Peterson gave the lead back to the Scots at 4:52, and Riliegh McGeorge fired in another goal 29 seconds later to give Alma a 3-1 advantage through the first quarter.

Adrian ripped off a 3-goal run spanning the first 5 minutes of the second quarter to take the lead at 4-3. Briar-Rose Mackey's first goal of the game leveled things at 4-4, and after another Bulldog marker, a Sarah Bollinger tally tied things up at 5-5 with 7:46 to go. Peterson went on to score a pair of goals with 14 seconds of each other, which gave Alma the lead for good, and put the Scots up 7-5 heading into halftime.

Kirsten Browne scored a pair of goals at 13:25 and 11:12 to open the scoring in the third quarter, stretching the home side's lead to 9-5. The visitors had an answer in the form of 2 goals, but Browne made it a hattrick with 3:40 to go in the quarter, and Alma was up 10-7 after three quarters.

The Scots used a pair of quick goals by Mackey and Peterson to start the fourth quarter, and push things to the edge with 12:40 to go. Despite an Adrian response with 8 minutes to play, the Scots put things to bed with goals from Lauren Kenny at 6:50, Peterson at 5:51, and Scorziello with 11 seconds remaining.

Alma outshot Adrian 37-18 on the night, also winning the draw control battle 15-11. The Scots were led by Peterson, who recorded 7 points on the night (6G, 1A), also recording a game high 10 ground balls, and 5 draw controls. Browne registered a 5-point night, and Scorziello collected 4 points.

Alexis Norko (3-0) collected 6 saves in the win.
