Alma, Alma, MI – Alma College WMen's Tennis continued MIAA play this week, with the Scots picking up a pair of wins, before falling to Trine on Saturday.
Alma 7, Albion 2
The Scots kicked things off at Albion, sweeping the day 9-0.
Jake Lasceski and
Ashton Trnka picked up a win at #1 doubles 8-5. At #3 doubles Alma picked up another win from the team of
John Laxton and Tatenda Mukudu, who also won 8-5.
Alma scored a win at #1 singles from Lasceski 7-5, 6-3.
August Sack followed that up with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 win at #2.
Caleb Schuring won with a 6-3, 6-3 decision at #3 singles. #4 singles was also a win from Mukudu, 6-4, 6-3.
Eli Festerling picked up the final win at #5 singles 6-1, 6-2.
Alma 9, Olivet 0
Alma continued play with another midweek contest against Olivet. Alma got wins in doubles play from the duos of Lasceski and Trnka (8-4) at #1, Michaels and Schuring (8-4) at #2, and Laxton and Sack at #3 (8-2)
In singles play, Lasceski (6-1, 6-1) won at #1. At #2 Sack picked up the win (6-4, 6-1). #3 saw Schuring win for Alma (6-1, 6-1). Festerling won at #4 singles (6-2, 6-1). Trnka cruised to victory (6-3,6-2) at #5. Michaels completed the sweep with a resounding win (6-0, 6-1) at #6.
Trine 9, Alma 0
The Scots welcomed Trine University on Saturday. Alma celebrated it's seniors before the match, falling to Trine 9-0.
All three doubles pairings lost by scores of 8-2.
A pair of Scots were able to push their matches to three sets.
Festerling was able to push his #4 singles game to three, falling 3-6, 7-6, 3-10. Trnka also forced a third set at #5 singles, losing 6-4, 3-6, 4-10.
The Scots move to 3-3 in MIAA play, and head to Adrian on Monday.
