Women's Soccer Battles Adrian College

Alma, Mich. – On Tuesday, October 8th, Alma College Women's Soccer welcomed Adrian College to Scotland Yard for Alma's Police Athletic League (PAL) game. Members of the league walked out with Scots players for the introduction of starting lineups and were part of a halftime event at midfield. In their third conference match of the season, the Scots fell 3-1.

The first half was all Bulldogs who opened the scoring in the 14th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. Adrian added a second goal 16 minutes later, sneaking a shot past Alma's keeper in the open field to make it 2-0. In the 35th minute, the Bulldogs extended their lead by capitalizing on a rebound from a saved shot attempt. Adrian threatened to score once again in the 39th minute, but goalkeeper Mya Pofahl made a save in a one-on-one situation to hold the score at 3-0.

The second half was an uphill battle for the Scots as Adrian aimed for a clean sheet. That wouldn't be the case, however, as Emily Ahearn scored her second goal of the season with a long-range shot over the opposing keeper in the 86th minute, bringing the final score to 3-1.

Breanna McCluskey, Anna Waterstredt, and Ahearn each recorded two shots while Hannah Meyer and Jacqueline Daigneault each attempted one.

Alma will next be on the road Saturday, October 12th, to take on Kalamazoo College at 12 pm.
