Kalamazoo, Mich. – Alma College Women's Soccer traveled to MacKenzie Field on Saturday, October 12th, to take on Kalamazoo College. The Hornets took an early advantage, and the Scots couldn't muster a comeback, falling by a score of 3-0.
The winning goal of the match was scored in the 11th minute by Kalamazoo, giving them an early 1-0 lead. Alma's defense would remain heavily tested, facing five shots, with four on target and saved, before a corner kick in the 26th minute led to another goal for the Hornets. Kalamazoo tacked on one more score before halftime in the 40th minute to extend their lead to 3-0.
The Scots defense kept the Hornets off the board in the second half while the offense started to see some action. Alma was awarded two corner kicks and took six shot attempts, with 2 on goal, in the final 45 minutes of match action.
Anna Waterstredt led the Scots with 2 shot attempts, one of which was on goal. Breanna McCluskey, Bryn Bishop, Allyson Harvey, and Jacqueline Daigneault each had one shot attempt with Bishop's being on target. Mya Pofahl recorded 13 saves in net.
Alma will travel to South Bend, Indiana, for their next match on Saturday, October 19th, to face Saint Mary's College (IN).
