Women's Soccer Defensive Efforts Force Draw

South Bend, Ind. – On Saturday, October 19th, Alma College Women's Soccer traveled to Purcell Athletic Fields in South Bend, Indiana, to face off against Saint Mary's College (IN). The game was a defensive battle with neither team willing to surrender a goal. Despite a late push by both sides, the match resulted in a 0-0 draw.

The Scots struggled to find momentum on offense in the first half, managing just one corner kick without registering a shot. Their defense, however, remained resilient, facing five shots, two of which were on target and saved. The Belles also earned five corner kicks before halftime, but Alma's defense held off the threats to keep the match tied.

In the final period, both teams increased their offensive intensity. Saint Mary's fired off four shots within the first six minutes of the second half, with one on target and saved by Alma's keeper. The defense held firm for the Scots until the offense took over with 10 minutes left to play. In the 80th minute, Allyson Harvey's shot was saved by the opposing keeper. Bryn Bishop got off a shot in the 85th minute and Abbi Johns took a chance in the 86th minute but neither could break the tie, leaving the score at 0-0.

Mya Pofahl recorded her first shutout of the year, recording five saves in net.

The Scots will be on the road for their next match up in Angola, Indiana on Tuesday, October 22nd, to take on Trine University.
