Women's Soccer Stifled by Trine

Angola, Ind. – Alma College Women's Soccer faced Trine University at Shive Field for a 7pm Tuesday night match up. The Thunder took an early lead and were supported by seven saves, defeating the Scots 5-0.

Alma looked to build offensive momentum from the start, but Trine's goalkeeper made a save on Allyson Harvey's shot on goal in the 3rd minute. In the 4th minute, the Thunder capitalized and netted the first goal of the match. Harvey took another shot on goal in the 5th minute, followed by a close attempt by Anna Waterstredt in the 8th minute, but both were saved. Trine scored again in the 9th and 22nd minutes to extend their lead to 3-0. Bryn Bishop looked to answer in the 26th minute, but her shot was also saved by the Thunder. Trine tacked on one more goal, leaving Alma trailing 4-0 at the break.

The Scots continued to battle in the second half, with Waterstredt's shot saved in the 47th minute and Bishop's getting blocked in the 49th minute and off-target in the 63rd minute. Waterstredt pressed forward again in the 78th minute, but Trine's keeper didn't give in, saving another shot attempt. The Thunder added a fifth goal in the 81st minute to increase their lead. Jacqueline Daigneault fired a shot on goal in the 88th minute, but couldn't convert, leaving the final score at 5-0.
