Volleyball Falls to Adrian in Road Sweep

Adrian, MI – Alma College Volleyball traveled to Adrian on Saturday to continue MIAA conference play. The Scots were defeated in a 3-set seep by the Bulldogs, 27-25, 25-20, 25-20.
 
The opening set saw Adrian pull out to a 11-3 lead, before Alma was able to put together a pair of small runs to get back within 3 at 16-13. The home side pushed the gap back up to 21-16, before Alma put together a 6-1 run to level things at 22 apiece. The teams went point for point, but Alma never got to a set point, falling 27-25.
 
Alma led 5-1 in the second set before Adrian was able to reel the visitors back in to a draw at 11-11. The home team got hot, pulling off a 7-2 run to lead 18-13. Alma managed to pull back within 1 at 20-19, but Adrian put things out of reach, winning 25-20.
 
The teams started neck and neck in the third set, finding themselves tied at 7-7, before Adrian wheeled out to a 14-9 lead. The Scots found their footing to bring the gap down to just a single point at 15-14, but couldn't manage to tie the set. Adrian never relinquished the lead, and used a small burst at the end of the set to pull away and end the game with a 25-20 set win.
 
Callie Smith led the way for Alma, totaling 6 kills and a block assist to go with 10 digs. Madison Munley collected 5 kills, and Olivia Deeb also added 5 kills to go with her team high 10 assists.
 
Grace Steiner recorded 16 digs and 5 assists, and Courtney Smith added 10 digs as well.
 
The Scots are back in action on Wednesday as they host Kalamazoo for their Pink Out Game.
