Volleyball Upended in Three Weekend Games

Anderson, IN – Alma College Volleyball hit the road over the weekend. Alma took on Kalamazoo College on Friday night, before facing off with Anderson University, and Transylvania University, who was receiving national poll votes heading into the weekend.
 
Kalamazoo 3, Alma 1
The Scots opened the weekend with a game at Kalamazoo. The game was played as a non-conference matchup, with Alma claiming the win in MIAA play earlier this season. Kzoo took the opening set 25-17, before Alma was able to clap back with a 27-25 set win in the second set. The Hornets caught fire, winning the next 2 sets 25-14, 25-15 to take the game. Callie Smith racked up 13 kills in the loss, adding 2 aces, and 13 digs to lead Alma's defense. Madison Munley totaled 8 kills in the middle, and Madison Bott put up 5 kills. Olivia Deeb totaled 36 set assists. Grace Steiner collected 10 digs.
 
(RV) Transylvania 3, Alma 0
Alma's opening match on Saturday was against Transylvania. The Scots were swept in 3 sets, 25-15, 25-16, 25-10. Callie Smith led with 5 kills, and Reagan Thorr snagged a pair of aces. Olivia Deeb collected 10 assists. Grace Steiner led the defense with 7 digs.
 
Anderson (IN) 3, Alma 0
The Scots then took on host Anderson University. Alma were outgunned, and dropped a close opening set 25-20. Anderson was able to keep things up offensively, and slow Alma down, winning the second set 25-12. The final set tipped the way of Anderson, a 25-23 decision. Katelyn Schell and Christa Munn each totaled 5 kills to lead the team. Olivia Deeb collected 15 assists. Reagan Thorr led with 10 digs.
 
The Scots return home for a 3-game homestand before closing out the regular season on the road.
