Scoring Paced by Leroux's 5 Threes as Women's Basketball Blows By Bulldogs

Adrian, MI – Alma College Women's Basketball headed down to Adrian College to continue MIAA play against the Bulldogs. The Scots were able to win comfortably, notching their second W in a row.

It was Adrian who jumped out to quick leads at 6-2 and 9-4 early in the first, but Alma didn't let the home side pull away. What was 9-4 turned into 18-16 at the end of the first thanks to the offense heating up. Alma shot a remarkable 51.7% from the floor on the day, but also hit from range. The Scots hit a pair of threes in their run to the lead at the end of the quarter, which would just be the start for the Scots from downtown.

The offense really fired up in the second quarter. The Scots scored the first three baskets of the second quarter to open up the lead to 9 points, before keeping their foot on the gas to push out the lead to as much as 13 points in the frame. The Scots shot 9 of 17 from the floor, connecting 4 more times from downtown. As things drew to a close, Alma led 43-32 at halftime.

The Scots once again opened a quarter on the tear in the third. The team was red hot, shooting over 60% from the floor. Just 90 seconds in, Alma led by 17 points, and just kept on pushing. The lead hit 20 on a Megan Leslie three at 5:32 to go, and leaked at 25 when Madelyn Weber made a layup at 0:39. After three, 69-46 Scots.

The fourth quarter saw Alma go deep into their rotation, and everyone was getting in on the scoring, highlighted by a Cadence Kaminske and-one bucket late in the game. The Scots were outscored 21-17 in the frame, but the lead was just too large for Adrian to overcome, with Alma winning 86-67.

The Scots improve to 5-4, and remain very much in the fight for fourth in the MIAA, where they battle with rival Albion, who was able to knock off a ranked Trine squad to level things with Alma. The Scots hold fourth via head-to-head tiebreaker currently.

Alma is back at it on their home floor on Wednesday against Olivet.
