Hanover, IN – Alma College Volleyball saw day 2 action at the Hanover Invite on Saturday. The Scots were defeated by Berea College 3-2, and swept by the hosts Hanover College 3-0.
Berea 3, Alma 2
The Scots opened with a game against Berea College. The contest was hard fought, with neither team truly pulling away in any fashion. Alma won the first set at 25-19 to open the game. Berea responded with a pair of set victories at 25-19, and 25-22. The game looked as if it might end in the fourth. Alma trailed for much of the set, before bursting through at the end to win it 27-25. Playing in their 2
nd 5-set game in two days, the Scots held a 9-8 victory, only for the opposition to rip off a 7-1 run to end the game.
Brooke LeRoux recorded 16 kills, tied for game high.
Sienna Sahr hit 11, and
Callie Smith put up 10 kills. LeRoux and Sahr each landed 3 aces, tied for the game lead.
Lexi Dykstra assisted 29 times, and
Vicky Villarosa added an assist on 21 occasions.
Kolbey Boyd recorded 24 digs, Dykstra 20, and LeRoux 15.
Hanover 3, Alma 0
Immediately following the Berea game, Alma took on the hosts Hanover College. The Scots were simply outmatched by a rested home squad. Hanover took the game comfortably, 25-20, 25-12, 25-21. Alma struggled to slow down a hot Hanover attack, with the home side hitting .340.
Brooke LeRoux led with 14 kills, and
Sienna Sahr landed 5 aces in the loss.
Lexi Dykstra was the leading assist getter was
Lexi Dykstra with 13.
Ashlyn Michalski sent back 3 attacks, and
Kolbey Boyd led with 14 digs.
Alma will be back on the road next weekend at Manchester (IN).
