Alma, MI – Alma College Tennis hosted Calvin in MIAA play on Friday. The Scots were defeated in both men's and women's action 8-1.
Men: Calvin 8, Alma 1
On the men's side, the Scots picked up their lone victory courtesy of #3 Doubles, where the duo of Jake Lasceski and Ashton Trnka claimed victory over Calvin's Isaac Jeong and Jared Berghorst by score of 8-6.
The Scots foiught valiantly throughout the rest of the matches in the contest, but Calvin proved to be too much on the day, closing out Alma in singles play.
Women: Calvin 8, Alma 1
The Alma women got their only win of the match from Amanda Szymborski at #2 Singles, as she defeated Calvin's Emily Schellenboom by a final score of 6-4, 6-4. Kayla Weller had a solid outing, after dropping the first set 0-6, she fought back and forced a tiebreaker in the 2nd match, falling 7-6 (10-6). Bronwyn McAlindon also had a solid contest at #6 Singles, playing a close first game at 6-4, before falling 6-1 in game two.
Alma played well throughout the lineup, but a hot Calvin team was able to secure the win.
The Scots will be back in action as the men head down to Trine in a make-up game on Monday.
