LeRoux One Point Shy of Double-Double as WBB Falls to Wisconsin Lutheran

Alma, MI – Alma College Women's Basketball faced off with Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday at the Pat Deacon Classic. The Scots were defeated by a final of 63-54.

Alma jumped out to an 8-2 advantage to open the game, but the offense went cold as the quarter moved on. Defensively, Alma held on as Wisconsin Lutheran tried to mount a run late. The Scots led 12-10 after one quarter.

The second frame was a much more back and forth affair. Neither team could pull away from the other, trading points and buckets. Alma ended the quarter on a solid run, but a late three from Lutheran knotted the game at 24-24 as the teams headed in for halftime.

The close battle continued into the third quarter, with each side going basket for basket with the other. The Scots found ways to score, but their counterparts did as well, managing to keep Alma at an arms length. Despite this, the Scots were still very much in the game, trailing 40-36 heading into the final frame.

WLC opened the fourth quarter with a made three, and went on a 10-4 run to start the frame. This effectively put the game out of reach, as Alma could never quite work their way back into things.

The Scots were led by Tayor Sas (23 Points, 2 Rebounds, 3 Steals) who followed up her 7-15 3 point performance from Tuesday with a 5-10 showing from downtown. Brooke LeRoux (9 Points, 11 Rebounds) and Maddie Robbins (6 Points, 3 Assists) were also key contributors.

Alma is back in action tomorrow, as they take on Maryville (TN) at 1 PM.
