The Scots raced out to the lead early in the game. Alma went up 10-6 on some solid looks, and Maryville fought their way back into things at 11-9. The Scots closed the quarter on a 14-4 run in the final 4 minutes to lead 25-13 at the end of the first quarter.

Izzy Alston, who racked up 12 points by halftime, and built a lead. Maryville pushed hard, but the Scots took their best shots and still held a 5-point advantage. The Scots then turned it on, utilizing a 14-9 run to pull back away, and extend the gap. The teams tied the quarter 18-18, and Alma led 43-31 at the break.
Alma pulled away in the third quarter, opening the quarter by trading jabs. Maryville pushed to stay in things, battling to a 6-4 scoring margin. However, the latter half of the quarter was all Alma. The Scots embarked on a 9-2 run, and in the blink of an eye, led by 21 with 2:27 to go. In the last 2 minutes, Maryville woke up, but a late three by Alma saw the Scots lead 61-43 after three quarters.
The Scots pulled further away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the opposition 10-6 in the first 6 minutes of the frame, with Alma adding 7 points in the final moments while Maryville added 2. In the end, the scoreboard read Alma 78, Maryville 52.
Izzy Alston (17 Points, 5 Rebounds, 3 Blocks)
Taylor Sas (16 Points, 7 Rebounds, 7 Assists) and
Brooke LeRoux (10 Points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Assists) led the way for Alma.
The Scots open up conference play with a road date at The University of Olivet to open conference play on Wednesday.
