Box Score
ALBION, Mich. – The Alma College baseball team traveled south to take on Albion College on Saturday, April 9. The Scots fell to the Britons by a final score of 6-2.
Alma fell behind early in the matchup as the Britons put one run on the board in the first inning. Both teams stayed off the board for the next three innings until Albion added another five runs to take a 6-0 lead over the Scots.
Alma would finally break through in the top of the seventh when Cooper Kauffold (Sebewaing, Mich.) homered over the right field wall. This was Kauffold's second homerun of the week. Alma would look to make a comeback in the eighth, starting with a Kevin Tuttle (Woodhaven, Mich.) single to shortstop. The next batter, Joshua Robinson (Dewitt, Mich.) singled to right field. Both runners would advance to second and third on an error. Avery Carnicom (Woodhaven, Mich.) hit a sacrifice fly to center field which allowed Tuttle to score and cut the lead to four. Alma would fail to score in the ninth and drop the first of three against the Britons.
Carnicom and Kauffold recorded the two RBIs for Alma, and the pitching staff recorded three strikeouts for the game.
Alma will be back in action on Sunday, April 10, when they face off against Albion College at Klenk Park. The Scots will compete in a doubleheader with the games starting at 1:00p.m. and 4:00p.m.
