EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Alma College men's tennis team lost a hard-fought match against the University of Saint Francis on Mar. 5 at Sparrow Michigan Athletic Club in East Lansing. The Scots lost to the Cougars 6-3, with two of the wins coming from defaults.
The lone win of the day came from five-singles player
Brendan Murdie, who had a score of 6-3, 6-1. This match moves Murdie to 3-0 in singles play for the spring.
"Murdie just went out and did what he usually does. He gets into a groove and is hard to beat," said head coach Jared Guy.
Guy continued to say that it was a good match for the young team to build on as the season progresses.
"In the end, we were just out-executed in the important points and important games today," Guy said. "We are definitely showing our youth. As soon as we start building some consistency, we are going to be a tough team to beat."
The Scots will be back in action at home on March 12 when they take on the Manchester University Spartans.
