Box Score 2 SHREVEPORT, La. — The Alma College baseball team completed day two of doubleheaders against Centenary College on Monday, Feb. 21. The Scots dropped both games on the day, 13-3 and 12-2.
Coming off of the previous day's performances, Joshua Robinson and Tyler Johnson were named MIAA Position Player of the Week and MIAA Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
The Scots struggled early and fell behind to Centenary in game one of the doubleheader. Centenary scored 11 unanswered runs through five innings before Padyn Kesselring singled up the middle and scored two runs for the Scots. Two innings later, Stephen McGlade singled up the middle and Scott Crawford crossed home plate for Alma. The Scots would be shut down offensively for the rest of the game and would look to rebound in the second game.
Avery Carnicom led Alma batting for the day, going 2-for-3. Kesselring followed behind, going 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Starting off the second game, Cooper Kauffold doubled into centerfield, scoring Carnicom, to take a 1-0 lead. In the next at-bat, McGlade doubled, sending Kauffold across home plate to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Alma's offense struggled the rest of the game and did not score another run, ending the Scots' time in Louisiana.
Carnicom went 2-for-3 again while Kauffold and McGlade went 1-for-3 with one RBI each.
Th Scots now travel to Tennessee to play against Rhodes College on Wednesday, Feb. 23. Alma will also play the University of Chicago on Saturday, Feb. 26, in Memphis, Tennessee.
