Box Score 2 ALMA, Mich. - The Alma College baseball team won the first game of a doubleheader against Kalamazoo College on Friday by a score of 12-7. The Hornets then won the second game, 11-7. The Scots are now 12-16 overall and 7-9 in conference.
In game one, the Alma offense came to play with two runs in the first, one in the second, and four in the third. Alex Dwan provided a big two-RBI triple to help give Alma the lead. Joshua Robinson hit a solo shot in the fourth to make it 9-6 Scots, then Jaret Koin hit a RBI triple in the fifth for an insurance run. The final run for Alma came with an RBI triple by Macguire Hawley.
Dylan Dzendzel pitched six innings while striking out four batters in the game to earn the win. Drew Koenig threw a scoreless seventh inning to close things out.
In game two, Kalamazoo went out to a 5-0 lead but the Scots responded with six straight runs to take a 6-5 advantage. The Hornets would take back the lead and hold it from there. A sixth-inning rally gave the Scots some life but they were unable to complete the comeback and ended up on the short end of the second game.
On the day, Robinson had five hits, two RBI and four runs scored. Kevin Tuttle had four hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Alex Dwan had three hits, four RBI and three runs scored. Wyatt Nyswaner had three hits, three RBI and two runs scored.
Alma will head to Kalamazoo on Sunday for a doubleheader to finish the conference regular season for the Scots. The first game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
