ALMA, Mich. - The Alma College men's tennis team swept Concordia University Ann Arbor, 9-0, in the Scots' home opener at the Stone Recreation Center on Thursday. The Scots move to 1-1 on the year with the win.
The Scots quickly dispatched the Cardinals in the doubles matches with Brandon Ralston and Thomas Manko winning at first doubles, 8-1. Caleb Schuring and Brendon Murdie won second doubles, 8-2. Walter Michaels and Merrick Bay won at third doubles, 8-1.
Alma continued the momentum into the singles matches without dropping a single set. Ralston, Schuring, Manko, Murdie, and Michaels all won their singles matches while Tait Morrissey stepped in at sixth singles and won, 6-1, 6-1. It was the first career singles matches wins for the freshmen pair of Manko and Michaels.
Alma will hit the courts again on Saturday, March 13th when it hosts Spring Arbor University on Saturday, March 13th.
