ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College volleyball team hosted nationally-ranked Calvin University on Wednesday at Art Smith Arena. The Scots fell in three sets (25-22, 25-13, 25-18) to drop to 1-3 on the season. This game did not count towards the MIAA conference standings.

Alma came ready to play as they stayed with and even held some leads in the opening set. The Scots were up 20-15 before the Knights stormed back to take the set.

The Scots took an early 3-0 lead to start the second set, however Calvin used a few runs to take control and ran away with the second set. Alma kept the third set close but ultimately fell short.

Sara Majerle led the team with eight kills and also added seven digs. Following her selection as MIAA Specialist of the Week, Haley Novak recorded nine assists and eight digs.

McKenzie Smith tallied seven kills, Megan Greenup had seven assists and two service aces, while Bailey Cantrell recorded eight digs.

Alma will head to Albion College on Wednesday, April 7th for a conference matchup at 6:30 p.m.
