Grand Rapids, Mich.- The Alma College volleyball dropped a 3-1 decision at Calvin University on Friday (Mar. 26). The Scots drop to 1-2, while the Knights move to 2-0 on the young season.
Calvin would take the first set with a comfortable 25-13 victory. The Scots would battle back in the second set and earn the 25-19 win. The third set was also close as Alma pushed Calvin to the brink, however the Knights would take the set 25-21. Calvin would use the momentum to cruise in the fourth set, earning a 25-12 victory.
Sara Majerle led Alma with 13 kills while McKenzie Smith had eight. Senior Haley Novak had 18 assists to go along with 12 digs. Bailey Cantrell led the Scots in digs with 14.
This was the first time Alma won a set against Calvin since the 2016 season.
Alma will return home to face these very same Calvin Knights on Wednesday (Mar. 31). First serve at Art Smith Arena is set for 6:30 p.m. in a game that will not count in the MIAA standings.
