ALMA, Mich. – The Alma College volleyball team took down Olivet College in their home opener of the 2021 season. The Scots won in straight-sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-19) to earn their first victory of the season. Alma moves to 1-1 on the year while the Comets drop to 0-2.

The Scots came out firing on all cylinders as they took an 8-2 lead to start things off. They held a decent size lead for the rest of the set and McKenzie Smith earned the set-winning point on a kill. 

The second set was a bit closer with Olivet and Alma tied at 12 a piece during it. The Scots then won five straight point with Sara Majerle on the serve to take control. Majerle put Alma up by two sets on a kill.

Alma continued its momentum into the third set, earning an early 4-0 advantage. The Scots kept the Comets at bay for the rest of the night and sealed the victory on a Majerle kill.

Majerle led all players with 12 kills and eight digs. Haley Novak racked up 14 assists while posting six kills, five digs, and five service aces.

Megan Greenup tallied 10 assists. Bailey Cantrell had four digs.

The Scots will head to Calvin University on Friday, March 26th in their next game.
