Kalamazoo, Mich. - The Alma College men's golf team finished fourth in the final MIAA Jamboree of the year on Monday (Sept. 30) from the Kalamazoo Country Club. The Scots finished with an overall team score of 314, three strokes ahead of Calvin University, and 13 strokes behind third-place Trine University. Hope College won the event with a score of 299, while host Kalamazoo finished second with a score of 300.
Alma remains in seventh place in the conference standings but it moves to within three strokes of Albion for sixth place with two rounds remaining.
The Scots were led by sophomore Eli Pinter (Muskegon, Mich. / Reeths-Puffer). Pinter finished tied for seventh place individually with a score of 75 (+4). Behind Pinter was freshman Andrew Curran (Byron Center, Mich. / Jenison) with a score of 77 (+6) and tying for 15th place. Next for the Scots was junior Tait Morrissey (Canadian Lakes, Mich. / Big Rapids) with a score of 80 (+9) and finishing in a tie for 24th. Following him was senior Luke Lamoreaux (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Stevenson) with a score of 82 (+11), tying for 28th place. Finishing the day for the Scots was sophomore JP McDonald (Jackson, Mich. / Hillsdale Academy), who shot a 90 (+19) and tied for 43rd place.
The Scots will now compete in the two-day MIAA Fall Final tournament beginning on Friday (Oct. 4) at 1:00 pm. The event will be hosted by Olivet College at the Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing.
